ZEN's Garden For The Community

Our Story

ZEN's Garden For The Community sits on 1.8 acres and the land was cleared in January 2022. Since then, Charlotte Mecklenburg County Public Health Program built 30 garden beds for ZEN to Grow with a Purpose and for our community members to have a safe and welcoming space to grow their own food. The garden opened in April 2023 and we will lessen food insecurities in our community by donating ZEN's harvest to families needing assistance.

We are excited to announce that our outdoor classroom is under construction and we will be building an outdoor kitchen to host cooking classes. ZEN's Garden for the Community is a place for the community to learn how to live a healthier lifestyle, tackle food insecurities, and connect with friendly neighbors.

How It Started...

Thanks to Mecklenburg County Public Health's Edible Landscape program, we were awarded our first garden beds and soil for our community garden. We appreciate the support and would like to thank them along with the following community partners for assisting with this project:

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

ZEN's Garden For The Community is officially OPEN!!!!

We would like to thank everyone who showed up for our ribbon cutting ceremony on May 6th 2023. It was truly heartwarming to see so many people show up to celebrate the opening of our edible educational landscape. ZEN's Garden For The Community will be a place where our community can come together to learn the importance of living a healthier lifestyle, all while being able to feed those in need.
